Mairéid Hilliard
Hey Y’all! My Name is Mairéid but my friends and family call me Maggie. I grew up near detroit in Michigan in a very Irish household. as a child I played multiple sports at the varsity, club, and collegiate levels and was also heavily involved in the city’s irish music scene. I am a multiple time united states champion and world championship finalist in traditional Irish Song (English and Gaelic) as well as a former competitive irish dancer. Perhaps my most proud music-related moment as a child was winning the purcell cup for best irish musician in the midwest two consecutive years.
Nowadays I am studying music Theatre at Baldwin Wallace University where i am expected to graduate in 2028. Since I beginning at Bw, I have had the PRIVILEGE of working professionally at a number of theatres in the cleveland and great lakes areas. Storytelling is incredibly important to me and truly nothing has ever made me happier.
When I am not on the stage, I can be found knitting, reading a play, sewing and designing costumes, or doing makeup. I am also extremely passionate about lgbtqia+ issues and Women’s rights and spend as much time as I can volunteering with organizations like the human rights campaign.
